Poplar Branches

Poplar Branches

Empty is the tree with leaves that are silent.
Too many syllables fly away,
for they lack meaning.
I stare into the world of unknowing.
A place without a clue.
Rambling like a sailor on leave,
trudging around Times Square.
Far off languages I do not comprehend.
Capturing their words through a forest hillside.
So that I may decipher,
their letters entombed,
in the Tower of Babel.
